Microsoft released version 5.6.137.0 of Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows on June 18, 2026. This is a minor update, but it introduces a feature that could prove very useful for organizations that frequently use their meeting rooms on short notice.
Instant Meeting Room Reservations
The main new feature in this version is the ability to make an ad hoc reservation directly from the Teams Rooms console.
When a room is available, a new“Reserve” button appears on the room’s calendar. This allows users to immediately reserve the space for their meeting without having to open Outlook or Teams on their computer.
A concrete example
You’re wrapping up a meeting, and the discussion is taking longer than expected.
Someone says:
“Should we keep going for another 30 minutes?”
Instead of pulling out your phone to check availability and reserve the room, simply use the ” Reserve ” button directly in the Teams Rooms system.
Simple, fast, and especially convenient for impromptu meetings at the office.
Administrative Review
Administrators can choose whether or not to enable this feature through the Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal using the ” Allow ad hoc room reservation” setting.
Announced End of “Together” Mode
Microsoft is also using this release to remind users that Together mode is now being phased out for all Teams customers.
