Teams innovations at Enterprise Connect 2025

Microsoft continues to push back the boundaries of enterprise collaboration and communication, unveiling a new series of innovations for Microsoft Teams atEnterprise Connect 2025. Enterprise Connect is a key annual conference dedicated to enterprise communication technologies. The event brings together industry leaders, IT experts and solution providers to explore the trends and innovations shaping the world of work. Once again this year, Microsoft has taken advantage of this technological showcase to present groundbreaking features, consolidating its position as leader in productivity and hybrid working. Here’s an overview of the new features that deserve your full attention.

The purpose of this article is to introduce you to the announcements made by Microsoft in another language, namely French, which is my mother tongue.

Resizing Microsoft Teams windows and panels

🎉Now available🎉 in public preview Teams now offers more options for organizing your Teams application window on your screen, allowing you to keep your communications in context and adapt them to your needs.

  • Zoom levels

Teams now offers additional zoom levels to help you find the size that suits you best. Whether you’re using a 6k screen or need enlarged text and controls, you can zoom in without losing functionality or having to scroll in two directions to read text.

  • Resize the Teams application

Adjust and resize the Teams application with Windows 11’s Snap Layouts for efficient multitasking by displaying multiple applications side by side. This means you can access chat, channel and meeting functions even in smaller windows, allowing you to work on all aspects of Teams while using other applications.

  • Resizing Teams panels

Adjust the size of Teams panels to prioritize what’s most important to you at any given moment. Teams instantly adapts to the new format. For example, you can enlarge the chat panel during a meeting. Simply hover over the edge of discussion panels, channels, meetings or activities, then drag the arrows to resize the panels.

  • Detach meeting panels

Starting in April, you’ll also be able to detach the side panels for discussion, Copilot, notes and subtitles. Detach, drag and resize them to customize your meeting view to suit your needs, without missing any meeting activity.

Discussion @proximité: Available as a public preview in April

Indeed, from April this year, you’ll be able to chat with colleagues who are physically nearby via the @proximity Tag in Teams. By identifying nearby colleagues, this feature encourages spontaneous face-to-face interactions, such as organizing an impromptu lunch or meeting up for a brief chat. Interesting feature, but I wonder how it will work technically speaking (wireless access point network equipment detection, switch or even emergency location…).

Loop shared collaborative space in standard channels

A new collaborative space appears directly in the channels, offering the possibility to collaborate in real time, organize key information and streamline communications within teams. You can add a Loop Space tab to standard channels, enabling your team to brainstorm, co-create, collect and structure content together in real time. This Loop Space is accessible to all team members, even if the team composition changes. It also respects the governance, lifecycle and compliance standards set by the Microsoft 365 group to which the team belongs. To activate this feature, click on the plus sign (+) at the top of the channel and select Loop from the list of applications. General availability is scheduled for April.

Live chat in Microsoft Teams enables small businesses to offer fast, efficient customer service by allowing website visitors to chat directly with their team via Teams. This feature includes notifications for incoming chat requests, a dashboard to manage conversations and the ability to view previous customer interactions. Use of live chat is limited to a maximum of 25 users per company. The feature is currently available in the U.S. and will be accessible worldwide in March. Find out more about how it works below:

Storyline will be integrated into the Microsoft Teams client in the first quarter (Q1) of this year.

Intelligent meeting summaries for events : Now available

Intelligent summarization is now available for events such as town halls and webinars, similar to the experience already available for traditional meetings. Organizers, co-organizers and presenters can easily explore the recording by speakers and topics, access AI-generated notes, automatically created tasks, and name mentions. These features are available with a Teams Premium license, as well as with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Return to the green room after an online session: Generally available

Organizers and presenters can now end the session with the new “End Event” button for public meetings, webinars and structured meetings. Once this button has been selected, participants will see a message indicating that the session has ended, while presenters will return to the Green Room.

Town Hall number of simultaneous participants supported increases to 50k

Town Hall organizers can now reach a wider audience at a single event, with maximum capacity extended to 50,000 simultaneous participants. This represents a major advance on the previous limit of 20,000 participants for Teams Premium licensees.

Teams Phone extensibility for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Contact Center and certified ISV solutions : Public preview available in April

Microsoft introduces Teams Phone extensibility for Dynamics 365 Contact Center and certified ISV (Idependant Software Vendor) solutions, enabling customers to maximize their telephony investments by integrating Teams Phone into contact centers. Starting next month, companies with Teams Phone and Dynamics 365 Contact Center will be able to use Teams Phone as a single, integrated solution to manage calls across their UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) and CCaaS (Contact Center as a Service) solutions. This integration simplifies deployment, management and billing of the telephony infrastructure.

In addition, Teams Phone’s extensibility is supported by ISV solutions using Azure Communication Services (ACS), giving customers a wide range of options for integrating Teams Phone into their preferred contact center application. This marks a step forward in the unification of communication tools and contact center services. ISV solutions that will be certified for Teams Phone extensibility include Anywhere365, AudioCodes, ComputerTalk, Enghouse, IP Dynamics, Landis and Luware.

Copilot in Teams Phone without enabling transcription or recording: Public preview available in April

This new feature allows users to take advantage of Copilot’s capabilities during live calls, without keeping transcripts or audio recordings afterwards. This ensures that Copilot can be used during sensitive conversations where the retention of a recording is not desired. Once this option has been activated by the administrator, users can launch Copilot without transcribing or recording by simply clicking on the Copilot button in the top menu. Copilot in Teams Phone automates the important administrative tasks of a call, such as capturing key points, assigning task owners and next steps, enabling users to remain focused on the content of the call.

Copilot summary for transferred calls: Available as a public preview in April

Use AI to simplify call transfers. When a call is transferred to a colleague, users can ask Copilot to automatically generate AI notes to summarize the call as a briefing for the recipient. This feature ensures that the colleague receiving the call is well-informed of previous conversations related to that call, improving understanding and preparation. By providing this context, the Copilot summary facilitates communication and reduces the need for unnecessary repetition. Copilot summary for transferred calls will also be supported by Teams Phone certified devices.

Queue application – Barge/whisper/monitor/takeover option: Available for public preview in April

The Queues app: intervention/assistance/listening/support feature in Teams Phone helps team managers and supervisors to effectively manage and train junior agents. This feature is part of the Queues app, available with a Teams Premium license. In addition, this feature enables supervisors to :

  • Assistance (Whisper): Provide assistance to agents during a call, without the caller hearing it.
  • Intervention (Barge): Participate in an ongoing call to assist the agent and caller.
  • Takeover: Remove an agent from a call and take over the conversation if necessary.

SMS for Teams calling plans in the USA and Canada: Generally available

Teams calling plan customers in the USA and Canada can now send and receive SMS messages directly from the Teams application on desktop or mobile. This feature facilitates communication with people outside their organization who do not use Teams. A registration with The Campaign Registry (TCR), facilitated by Microsoft during the configuration process, is required before Teams call plan numbers can be activated for SMS in the Teams administration center. Then, users can simply open the Teams application, create a new chat, enter the recipient’s phone number, write and send their message. The message will be sent from the user’s phone number, not a generic number.

In addition, users will be able to assign the transfer action to the line key, enabling them to transfer active calls simply by pressing this key.

Room Recommender: General availability in April 2025

The Room Recommender facilitates face-to-face collaboration by suggesting suitable meeting rooms. If no rooms are booked for a meeting, this feature suggests rooms in the meeting chat one hour before the scheduled time, when two or more participants are in the same building. It takes into account participants’ locations, room availability and capacity to identify the ideal meeting space. Users can book the suggested room with one click, and update the meeting invitation for everyone.

The room recommender will be available on Teams mobile (iOS) for Teams Premium license holders.

Reservation of individual ad hoc offices: Usually available in April

Book a desk instantly by connecting to a device on a shared desktop, enabling a smoother working experience for employees. IT administrators also benefit from a simplified backend experience, with automatic device association based on desk reservation data and access to desk usage data in the Teams Rooms Pro management portal.

Facilitator agent in Teams Rooms: public preview available early next quarter

Facilitator agent support in Teams Rooms (Windows and Android) provides real-time AI-generated notes and actions during scheduled hybrid meetings and impromptu in-person meetings. The Facilitator agent appears in the notes panel for hybrid meetings and can be activated via a QR code for in-person meetings, improving collaboration and productivity for all.

Occupancy status on Teams panels: generally available at the beginning of the next quarter

Teams panels will now be able to intelligently use signals from Teams Rooms devices (Windows or Android) or occupancy sensors paired with the panels to indicate when a room is in use (for example, by an LED glow), so you won’t be surprised to find an available room actually occupied.

Teams Rooms Pro management portal update: Generally available early next quarter

In response to customer demand for administration portal consolidation, IT administrators will have a unified device management experience for all Teams Rooms on Windows, via the Pro management portal. Access is extended to Basic and Standard licensed rooms, offering the same functionality found in the Teams Administration Center for this license type.
