Microsoft continues to innovate by adding practical features to its productivity tools. One of the latest of these now enables Outlook and Teams users to record the pronunciation of their name on their profile card. This initiative aims to promote diversity by helping colleagues to pronounce names correctly, an essential element of everyone’s identity.
Key features :
-
Pronunciation recording: Users will be able to record the pronunciation of their name via their profile card in Outlook or Teams. This option can be accessed by selecting the microphone icon on the profile card.
-
Playback of recordings: By clicking on the speaker icon on a colleague’s profile card, users can listen to the recorded pronunciation of his or her name, facilitating respectful and accurate communication.
Availability
Deployment is scheduled for mid-January to mid-February 2025.
Configuration for administrators :
This feature will be disabled by default. Administrators will be able to activate it via Microsoft Graph, following the instructions provided by Microsoft. Prior to deployment, updated documentation will be available to guide administrators through this configuration.

Pronunciation recordings are stored in each user’s mailbox until they are deleted by the user, thus guaranteeing confidentiality and control of personal data.
