Microsoft recently unveiled a new version of its Teams application for desktop phones. This update, version number 1449/1.0.94.2024071104, brings a number of interesting new features, including :
Explicit consent for registration
Users of the Teams app on their phone devices now receive a notification when one of the participants starts a recording or transcription. This notification requires the consent of the participant concerned. By default, this feature is disabled, but administrators can activate it. They can do so by clicking on the switch corresponding to the “Require participant consent for recording, transcription and translation” option.
Private line
The Private Line feature allows managers to have a second, private phone number on their Teams device, guaranteeing confidentiality for important calls. These calls are clearly distinguished in the call history. Previously, this feature was only compatible with the desktop version of the Teams client, but with this new version of the desktop phone app, it’s now available via Microsoft Teams certified desktop phones.
Lightweight Contacts application :
The updated Contacts application now offers a faster, simpler experience for managing contacts. Users can easily switch between different contact lists and create contact groups.
Enhanced call history :
Call history updates include improved logging for ignored, missed and forwarded calls. What’s more, the different types of call are clearly labelled. Easily track your calls and find out how they’re being managed. You can see whether a call has been ignored, missed or transferred, as well as its type, thanks to clear labels for the different call types. To access your call history, go to the Calls tab on your Teams phone.
Call transfer enhancements :
Call transfers benefit from several improvements. Users will see a list of speed dials during the transfer, and keyboard management on touch phones will be optimized. For non-touch phones, enhancements allow the transfer to be completed using dedicated hardware keys.
