“Roster Grouping for Proximity Join Participants”. This update enhances the meeting experience by automatically grouping people from the same room into a participant-level group when they join a meeting via the proximity join feature.
When you’re in a room equipped with Teams Room on Windows and join a meeting with a handheld or mobile device, Teams will display that you’re in the room and group you with the other participants present. This visibility enables all meeting participants to quickly understand who is with whom, reinforcing team cohesion and collaboration.
This feature is particularly useful for large organizations where meetings often involve participants in several conference rooms. With Roster Grouping, it’s easy to see who’s together in each room, simplifying the management of interactions and discussions during the meeting.
To benefit from this new functionality, devices must join the meeting via proximity junction, and certain Bluetooth and XML configurations must be activated. Additional user interface elements have been added to create visual clarity for room participants who are together. In addition, your room must have a Microsoft Teams Room Pro license.
The adoption of this feature by businesses promises to improve meeting efficiency and enhance collaboration, ensuring that teams can work together in a more intuitive and connected way, even when spread across different physical spaces.
Roster Grouping for Proximity Join Participants is an example of how Microsoft Teams adapts to the changing needs of modern workspaces, offering solutions that facilitate communication and collaboration, no matter where participants are located.
