Microsoft Teams is taking another step towards opening up its communication platform: you’ll soon be able to start a conversation with anyone who has an e-mail address, even if they don’t have a Teams account. A major step forward in facilitating professional and personal exchanges, without technical barriers.
How does it work?
It’s simple and fluid:
- Enter your contact’s email address in Teams.
- This person receives an e-mail invitation to join the conversation as aguest.
- Once connected, she can exchange messages, share files and even make calls, directly in the Teams interface.
No Microsoft account required, no complex configuration – just an e-mail address and a few clicks.
This feature transforms Teams into a truly universal communication hub, removing the barriers associated with registering or belonging to an organization.
And what about safety?
Microsoft has not neglected confidentiality:
- Guests can only access the conversation to which they have been invited.
- Administrators can manage authorizations and restrict interactions according to organizational policies.
- Shared files remain protected in the Teams environment, with the usual controls.
