Microsoft has recently released an important update for Microsoft Teams rooms on Android, bringing several improvements and security tweaks to enhance the user experience.
Corrections and improvements
- Preview Facilitator Agent note-taking in rooms for offline/ad hoc discussions: Energize your face-to-face discussions by inviting the Facilitator Agent into your Teams room.
- New policy managed by Microsoft to strengthen the security of your tenants against potential threats targeting accounts using Device Code Flow (DCF) authentication.
- Disable automatic acceptance of solicitations from external tenants: Teams Rooms on Android will no longer allow automatic acceptance of Proximity connections with an external account for security reasons.
- Local PTZ controls: If the camera does not automatically frame the room, on-site users can adjust the Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) function of the active camera to direct the focus where they wish.
- Speaker recognition and attribution in Teams Rooms on Android: Teams Rooms on Android will soon support smart speakers, offering advanced speaker recognition to precisely identify who said what in meeting transcripts. This feature significantly enhances Microsoft 365 Copilot and AI Recap by enabling accurate, personalized summaries and actionable insights from your meetings. This capability integrates seamlessly with smart speakers as well as existing room speakers via the cloud. Each participant is secured with a unique voice profile, ensuring accurate attribution in live transcripts and optimizing the efficiency of the Teams meeting experience.
- Improvements in proximity connection performance and reliability: These improvements concern stand-alone consoles, where calls sometimes disconnected before automatically reconnecting a few seconds later.
- Call connection performance improvements: several optimizations have been made to call connection on stand-alone consoles. These improvements should significantly reduce the time needed for the console to join a meeting, especially those with more than 50 participants.
