Block screenshots during Teams meetings

Microsoft Teams is set to enhance the confidentiality of your data with a new feature that will soon be available. This feature will prevent anyone from taking screenshots during Microsoft Teams meetings, ensuring better protection of shared information and creating a more secure working environment for all participants.

In a world where data security is a key priority, Microsoft Teams is taking another step forward by announcing this feature, scheduled for July 2025, designed to safeguard sensitive information shared during virtual meetings.

Enhanced protection against screen captures

The new feature, called Prevent Screen Capture, will automatically block any attempt to capture a screen by blackening the meeting window. This measure will apply to Teams applications on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, guaranteeing uniform protection across all platforms.

For users joining a meeting from a device or platform that doesn’t support this feature, Teams will automatically place them in audio-only mode, avoiding any risk of unsecured visual sharing.

A step forward for confidentiality

Microsoft’s initiative is part of a drive to reinforce the confidentiality of professional conversations and limit the risk of information leaks. However, it is important to note that this protection does not cover captures made with an external device, such as a smartphone or camera.

Microsoft has not yet indicated whether this feature will be active by default, whether it will require special configuration by Teams administrators, or whether it will require a Microsoft Teams Premium license. As soon as I have this information, I’ll update this section of my article.

A step towards more secure collaboration

With this update, Microsoft Teams continues to evolve to offer a more secure working environment tailored to business needs. This feature could well become a standard of protection for online collaboration platforms.

🤔What is your opinion of this new feature? Do you think it’s an essential initiative to ensure the confidentiality of business communications?
