Removing the Wiki tab in Teams

Microsoft had already removed it by default, when creating a new Teams channel. Now it’s time to migrate Wiki to OneNote. In fact, starting in mid-February, Microsoft will offer note-taking capabilities via Teams channels with OneNote and at the same time remove the old Wiki

How it affects your organization:

With this release, users have the ability to export their wiki content to OneNote notebooks in the standard Teams channel. After exporting, your users will be able to access the Notes tab to collaborate using OneNote in channels.

Remark:

With this change, users will still be able to access and edit existing wikis, but will not be able to create new wikis in Teams channels.

OneNote offers an enhanced note-taking experience.

  • Easy collaboration within the team
  • View all channel notes for a team in one place, organized in a single notepad
  • Rich editing with typing, ink annotations, highlighting, attachments, etc.
  • Easy recall and search of notes in OneNote on any platform
Note:

Soon, Notes tabs powered by OneNote will be added by default when users create new channels. For now, users can create OneNote tabs manually using the add tab experience (via the + button).

What you can do to prepare:

Microsoft recommends users to export their wikis to OneNote once it is available. If your organization has not yet activated OneNote, you can consult this documentation:
